LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday fined a petitioner seeking restoration of the Punjab Assembly, ARY News reported.
On May 6, a petition was filed in the LHC for revival of the Punjab Assembly which was dissolved on January 14 on the advice of the then Punjab CM Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
The LHC judge Justice Shahid Karim showed resentment on the petition and how the plea was submitted. The petitioner named Sharafat Ali was fined Rs100,000 by the LHC after rejecting the plea.

The petition stated that the advice for the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly was unconstitutional as it did not mention the reasons for dissolving the assembly.
The petition filed by a citizen further stated that the advice was sent on the orders of a former prime minister and the court that the court can review such advice.
The court can declare the advice unconstitutional and restore the Assembly.
